Question:

What does the following warning mean “Warning: The configured Master Server is not resolvable by the ExtremeZ-IP server. This may cause problems with users of the ExtremeZ-IP Zidget. This may be due to the specified Master Server name not being present in DNS.”?

Answer:

This warning is informational and does not represent a critical error in your ExtremeZ-IP settings. This error means that you have not created a DNS record (alias or cname) for the default auto-discovery host name – ExtremeZIPServerList.[yourdomain.com]. The ExtremeZ-IP Zidget uses this name to find the server. If your Macintosh users are not currently using the ExtremeZ-IP Zidget for file and print browsing, creating this DNS record is not required.

The ExtremeZ-IP Zidget (dashboard widget) was introduced in ExtremeZ-IP 5.0. It can be used to facilitate file and print resource browsing. For more information on how to deploy the ExtremeZ-IP Zidget, please see the Quick Start Guide and Manual located in the ExtremeZ-IP installation directory. You can also find more information about the Zidget at: http://www.zidgethelp.com
