Summary:

ExtremeZ-IP file services are recommended for use with Rampage prepress systems. This article is an excerpt from the Rampage user manual and covers how to configure Rampage for use with ExtremeZ-IP.

Description:

ExtremeZ-IP and Rampage

When adding ExtremeZ-IP to a file-server, a system environment variable must be added to all Rampage PC computers (Rips, Shooters, etc.) in order for Rampage to function properly with the new ExtremeZ-IP Service). This Document describes how to add that variable. When adding ExtremeZ-IP to an existing Windows Server, Rampage recommends preserving the existing Macintosh share-names to ease the transition.

Adding a System Environment Variable on a Windows 2000 Computer:

– Highlight “My Computer”.
– Right click and select “Properties”.
– Click the Advanced Tab.
– Click the Environment Variables button.
– In “System Variables” click “New”.
– Under “Variable Name” enter in “extremez-ip” (no
quotes)
– Under “Variable Value” enter in “yes” (no quotes)
– Hit “Ok”.
– Restart your computer.

Adding a System Environment Variable on a Windows NT 4 Computer (Note that ExtremeZ-IP 4.0 or later is not supported for Windows NT, however the 3.x version is still available):
– Highlight “My Computer”.
– Right click and select “Properties”.
– Click the Environment Tab.
– Under “Variable” enter in “extremez-ip” (no quotes)
– Under “Value” enter in “yes” (no quotes)
– Hit “Set”.
– Restart your computer.
