For purposes of centralization of print management and logging, it may be desirable to configure all Macs and Windows PC’s in an environment to print through ExtremeZ-IP print server queues. By doing this, all print jobs are routed through and logged by ExtremeZ-IP, allowing all print activity to be audited using ExtremeZ-IP. This document walks through the steps required to set up a Windows client computer to print to an ExtremeZ-IP Print Server.

The following steps are required to set up a Windows client to print to an ExtremeZ-IP Print Server. More detailed instructions on how to perform the steps above can be found in the PDF form of this article.
1. Add a new ‘local’ printer to the Windows client
2. Set up a new ‘Standard TCP/IP Port’ that points to the ExtremeZ-IP print server queue and assign it to this local printer
3. Configure the local printer type/driver
