Unable to open localized filenames: error -37

Symptom:

Filenames made from Mac OS X with localized characters appear with different charaters from Mac OS 8, Mac OS 9 and Windows systems.

Filenames made from Mac OS X with localized characters can not be opened from Mac OS 8/9 systems.

Error: “Could not open the document “Ao a” because an error of type -37 has occurred”

Steps to Reproduce:

From a localized version of Mac OS X, create the filename =
– Save file to EZIP volume
– Observe filename changes (Windows) = Ao a
– Observe filename changes (Mac OS 8/9) = Ao a
– Attempt to open/copy file (Mac OS 8/9): “Could not open the document “Ao a” because an error of type -37 has occurred”

Cause:

This is caused by a bug in ExtremeZ-IP’s handling of conversion of Unicode characters

Workaround:

There is no workaround.

Group Logic Technical Support has a hot fix available for this problem. Install ExtremeZ-IP version 3.0.3×4 or later. Please contact Technical Support for more information.
